Waterstar Saunas can have several bulbs for the reading light and outdoor lights (select models). Unfortunately, these bulbs look nearly identical. It is important that you order the correct bulb as a replacement - using the wrong bulb can cause damage to your sauna!
The bulb in your sauna may have printing on the side that will help you determine what replacement bulb you can use. The printing will read something like "MR16 GU7 120v". That information tells us the style of bulb, distance width of the connector pins, and voltage.
Often, this printing fades with lamp use and is unreadable when you need to replace the bulb. Therefore, we have the following guide to help you determine what bulb you need:
This photo shows the back side (the pin side) of the MR16 GU5.3 bulb. If you have this bulb, you should be able to fit three (3) US dimes between the pins.
This photo shows the back side (the pin side) of the MR16 GU7 bulb. If you have this bulb, you should be able to fit five (5) US dimes between the pins.
This is the MR16 GU5 LED bulb. It is currently the only LED bulb offered by Waterstar. If you have an LED bulb in your sauna, then this is the one you need as a replacement.
The next critical piece of information that you need to know is the VOLTAGE of the bulb. Again, you may be able to determine the volage from printing on the side of the bulb (either 12v or 120v). If you cannot, then you will have to use a voltmeter to determing your voltage. If you need assistance with using a voltmeter, please contact a qualified electrician.
Finally, Wattage is an issue. Waterstar bulbs can come in 20w, 25w, and 35w. Wattages are interchangeable in Waterstar saunas - you can choose which Wattage you would like to use. Higher Wattage bulbs are brighter. |
